  • Post-Doctoral Positions in Geoinformation Science/Remote sensing at LAITS, George Mason University.
    The Laboratory for Advanced Information Technologies and Standards (LAITS) at the School of Computational Sciences, George Mason University invites applications for multiple Post-Doctoral positions in the following two areas: 1) geoinformation science and 2) remote sensing of soil moisture. We seek highly motivated, energetic individuals to participate in the following research projects: interoperable web services and Grid technology for geospatial data; earth science knowledge discovering, management and modeling; applications of advanced information technologies in higher education teaching and research; and remote sensing of soil moisture. Requirements include a recent Ph.D. in computer/computational sciences, earth sciences, remote sensing, or a related field, demonstrated computer programming skills, and proficiency in written and spoken English. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge in Grid technology, geographic information, digital image processing, Web GIS, and optical/microwave algorithms in soil moisture retrieval. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The appointment is for one year and is renewable for up to five years subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Qualified applicants should have completed a BS/BA degree (MS/MA preferred) in computer/computational sciences, earth sciences, or a related field and should have strong background in at least one of the following areas: computer programming, earth science data, GIS, remote sensing, and Web technologies.
